5 Days Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga Sahara Desert

Departure is in the morning from Marrakech, crossing the Tizi n'Tichka pass (2,260 m), which offers spectacular views of mountains, valleys, and small perched Berber villages. Along the way, there are photo stops and a visit to argan oil cooperatives run by local women. The journey continues to the famous Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou , a UNESCO World Heritage site and the setting for numerous films, including Gladiator and Game of Thrones . After a guided tour and free lunch, the journey continues through Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Morocco,” with the option of visiting Atlas Studios or the Kasbah of Taourirt. In the afternoon, the journey takes the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs , passing through Skoura and the Valley of Roses, until reaching the Dades Valley , characterized by deep gorges and spectacular rock formations known as “monkey fingers.” Dinner and overnight stay in a traditional riad.

After breakfast, depart for the Todra Gorges , one of Morocco's most spectacular canyons with walls over 300 meters high, ideal for a relaxing walk along the river. Continue to Tinghir and Tinjdad, stopping among palm groves and Berber villages. In Erfoud, famous for its fossils, enter the pre-Saharan region until you reach Merzouga , the gateway to the Sahara. In the afternoon, the most exciting experience awaits: a camel trek through the Erg Chebbi dunes at sunset, with time to take spectacular photographs. Arrive at the luxury tented camp, where a traditional Berber dinner awaits, accompanied by music around the campfire and an unforgettable starry sky.

This day is entirely dedicated to the desert. After breakfast, a 4x4 excursion will take you to explore the surrounding area: visit the village of Khamlia , inhabited by a community originally from Mali who will welcome you with traditional Gnawa music; visit the ancient mines of Mifis and the nomadic families who live in tents in the desert. You can share tea with them and learn about their way of life. In the afternoon, you'll have free time to relax among the dunes or try experiences like sandboarding . At sunset, another walk among the dunes offers breathtaking views. Dinner and a second night in a tented camp under the stars.

Rise early to admire the most spectacular sunrise of the trip, with the sun painting the Erg Chebbi dunes red and gold. After breakfast and a shower, we set off towards Rissani, a caravan town with a traditional souk famous for its dates and spices. From here, the journey continues through desert and mountain landscapes until reaching the fertile Draa Valley , the longest in Morocco, stretching with endless palm groves, earthen kasbahs, and small farming villages. We stop in Agdz to admire the panoramic views of the valley and continue on to Ouarzazate , where we will have dinner and spend the night in a riad/hotel.

After breakfast, enjoy free time to visit the Kasbah of Taourirt or the Atlas Studios (optional). Then, we'll head back to Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas once again. Panoramic stops along the way before arriving in Marrakech in the afternoon, with return to your hotel/riad. End of the tour.
